mcr Tech Lab, responsible for the development of new technology at the Mercor Group and the provision of innovative applications for the fire protection industry, has implemented a system for monitoring the opening status of smoke vents and dust levels for the ROSSMANN drugstore chain.

We are implementing the concept of Fire Safety 4.0, which is based on wireless communication, mobile devices, access to cloud-based applications and data, and artificial intelligence.

We believe that the use of these technologies will significantly improve fire safety, creating safer cities, factories, warehouses, and company headquarters. “We are therefore extremely pleased that such a renowned company as ROSSMANN has chosen mcrTech Lab to implement a dust monitoring system and, on a test basis, to monitor the opening status of smoke extraction flaps,” says Bartłomiej Bartczak, President of the Management Board of mcr Tech Lab.

The implementation of the MCR Tech Lab system for ROSSMANN at the company’s headquarters in Łódź primarily involved the configuration and installation of an external access gateway (GATEWAY) with a dedicated antenna to amplify the signal.

The gateway collects data from sensors installed on the facility and transmits it to a network server. Data transmission takes place via the LoRaWAN protocol.

The primary goal was to monitor dust levels to detect airborne dust in the warehouse truck service area.

The project included the installation of three dust sensors to detect airborne dust. The sensor measures concentrations of particulate matter (PM2.5, PM4, and PM10), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), atmospheric pressure, lighting, temperature, humidity, and noise levels.

MCR Tech Lab also provided us with wireless smoke vent opening sensors, which were then installed in one of our warehouse buildings.

Each vent opening is recorded, and depending on the vent’s intended use, an alarm or notification is issued. Monitoring of the vent’s opening status and graphical visualization are available in the web app and mobile version. This installation is currently in the testing phase. In my opinion, MCR Tech Lab is a team of people with great potential and knowledge.

I recommend contacting anyone seeking innovative solutions in the field of technical facility maintenance.

THE MERCOR GROUP FOCUSES ON INNOVATION

MCR Tech Lab is part of the MERCOR S.A. Group, a manufacturer of advanced technologies and one of the leaders in the European market for passive fire protection.

“When considering a long-term strategy, it’s impossible to ignore the impact of innovation on the development of businesses and entire national economies. Therefore, we plan to deliver innovative products based on new technologies that will significantly expand our offerings. Within the Group, this is primarily the responsibility of the MCR Tech Lab. As evidenced by the recent implementation for the largest drugstore chain in Poland, Rossmann, there is a market demand for new equipment and systems for the fire protection industry based on Technology 4.0,” says Krzysztof Krempeć, President of the Management Board of “MERCOR” S.A.
